Life has been busy (more like work has been busy, so that impedes on my blogging time). This summer has been odd. Jordan is having his toughest semester yet, friends are BUSY, and my mind is having a hard time focusing on the now and being grateful for what our life looks like right now. Don't get me wrong, our life is very very very good...but it's been a season where it has been easy to look towards the future.
Working 4 Days A Week- I'm so grateful that once a week I can have a slow morning. I've slowly come to realize that I don't mind getting up early, I just hate having to rush and not ease into my day. Seems like maybe I would catch on and get up more than 30 minutes before I need to leave for work...nah...
Morse Park Summer Tri- My first two tri's this year weren't my favorite. Morse Park reminded me why I fell in love with tri. I was re-united with Brit. I forgot how much I need her crazy energy and silliness before a tri-it puts my mind in a better place. The race itself was great. The swim was packed and tough (but that's ok) the bike was gorgeous and flat-probably the first enjoyable bike I've ever had, and the run was a simple down and back-my favorite. The race was a blast, and makes me excited for the rest of the summer.
Family-I'm always thankful for a marrying into a great family. We spent a lot of time with Jordan's family on the weekend of the Morse tri. On Friday night, we all met at Abby's grandpa's funeral. Gary was one of the kindest men I have ever met. He was gentle, kind, and I'm so grateful that I got to know him better in the last few months. After meeting there, we all met at Frosty Boy in New Pal for the gender reveal of Aaron and Erica's baby...GIRL! Yay for another niece!
After the tri on Saturday, we all met at Carole and Terry's for a family cookout and early birthday celebration for Aaron. We ate way too much food and spent the day trying to stay cool. Terry even set up the sprinkler so that I could run through it...by myself...I'm that person.
Old Friends-On Sunday I met Becky at Bakersfield for dinner. I'm so thankful for Becky and the person that she is. I haven't seen her in months, but immediately we were able to open up about life and share real stuff. It's so nice to have friends that you don't have to worry about small talk or worrying about freaking them out with real issues. That girl's laugh and ability to laugh at herself inspires me to quit taking life so seriously.
New House-We had our first Life Group at Corey and Britt's new house. It. Is. Amazing. I'm so happy for their new place and new adventure. Brittany has inspired me with her intentionality to get involved in her new neighborhood...and oh those string lights...
Lake Max- I love this place. So thankful for a clean and safe place to practice open water swimming.
Monon with Mom-My parent's were up for a doctor's appointment this week, and my mom insisted on taking some time to ride on the Monon. It was a BEAUTIFUL day. It was 70 and sunny-amazing. We rode for over two hours, and did a total of 22 miles. It was a lot of fun to do something together that we both enjoyed.
Marriage-I'm so thankful for our marriage. Sometimes I literally laugh out loud at the fact that we are actually married and doing life together. As good as it is, there is always room to be better. I'm working on not just saying that I support Jordan and school, but really being supportive and loving in my actions and reactions to his school stress.
4th of July-The 4th was odd this year. The weather was rainy and felt like October. The high point was definitely hanging out with Drew and Bryn. Their plans were ruined by the weather, so they ended up coming to Indy to visit family-yay for US! Bryn's family is precious and it was fun to do dinner and play some Canjam with everyone. After the kiddos went to bed, we were able to grab drinks at Sahm's and laugh soooo hard. I love those two. Can't wait to have them up here in a few years.
On the 4th, we were able to have a cookout with some of our small group at Noel's place in Fountain Square. Katie made delicious food, and we enjoyed it. After some interesting games of Canjam on the roof, the guys went to Tapper's and the ladies took a long walk around Fountain Square. I'm so grateful that we have these friends. It was great to have some time alone with Katie and Jill to honestly share about where we are in life-that's so priceless.
This was just too good not to remember....oh Snapchat...you are so creepy...but so amazing.
