Recovery Week

Recovering after a weekend away is exhausting...that also sounds like something an 85 year-old woman would say...but I feel it. I. Feel. 85.

Monday
With a new year and new schedules, our small group decided to switch to Monday nights. Being that it was the last Monday of the month, we did dinner out. Devour downtown started this Monday so we tried out a new-ish place in Fountain Square-Repeal. Jordan and I split a meal. The food was good, the service was eh, but the building was amazing. I give it 6/10. I love events like Devour, so that we can try out new places for less money.

Tuesday
We have bugs. At work. All the time.
It's sad, heartbreaking, and I hate it. A lot of our patients have rough living situations-a majority of them are older and live in apartments. It didn't bother me at first, but when the patient's KEEP coming in over and over....it starts to freak you out. I'm praying that I can stay humble and love people despite their living situation.

Wednesday
On Wednesday I went crazy. I thought it was a good idea to go to cycle class at 5:30 am. 5:30 class meant getting up at 4:20. Yikes. The class was RIDICULOUS. The instructor had the most energy I have ever witnessed at 5am. In a strange turn of events, I actually ended up knowing the instructor from boot camp last summer...and somehow ended up on her instagram. So. Weird.
I somehow thought that scheduling a session with Stephanie at 10am was a good idea. It was not. Shoulders and back = dead.

I spent the rest of the day recovering and making dinner. Holly came to visit and spend the night. I love being able to catch up and have time to talk about life. Love that woman.

Thursday
The above speaks for itself. So...to combat all the fluffy feelings, I'm trying to figure out a rough schedule for tri's this summer. This is just a rough draft, but it feels good to have some dates on the calendar. Also a little stressful...but I'm hormonal, so whatever.

Friday
The sinus bug has officially taken me. Jordan has had it for 2 weeks, and I thought I had avoided it. But...with a crazy weekend, not a lot of sleep, and hard training...it took me. So dumb. Work was craziness and my swim was terrible. The kind of terrible that made me question why humans even exercise-even dumber.

Wedding Week

This week as no doubt as crazy as I had anticipated it would be.  I’m glad I had mentally prepared myself.

Wednesday

On Wednesday, Haley turned 21. We were able to take her and her friend Morgan out to Yard House downtown for dinner and drinks. It's so fun to develop a friendship with Haley now that our ages are "closer" and she is living so close.

After dinner, we had small groups for the first time this year. Noel brought his new girlfriend, Katie, and we were able to talk about what we were going to do with the new study. We're going to study a book dealing with how science and our faith collide-should be interesting.

Thursday
On Thursday, we made the long drive home to Vincennes so that we would be there early on Friday to help with the wedding. I'm so thankful for a husband that can make me laugh for 2 solid hours while we make the drive. We took the new HW69, it was amazing-we got home in under two hours and it was mindless. Also super thankful the Danny and Emily are always willing to let us stay with them when we are home. It's so nice to have extra room and a comfy bed.

Friday
Friday was my favorite. I had skipped my workout from the day before so that we could get back to Vincennes before midnight, so I needed to make it up Friday morning. Luckily, a YMCA membership get you in to any Y in the country...so I did my run at my childhood YMCA. The memories came flooding back. The sounds, smells, and sites have not change at allllll. Good times.

So many hours spent learning how to swim in this pool.
After my run, I headed to Greene to help Tori set up and finalize the wedding programs. I'm no graphic designer, but luckily everything was spelled right and it got the job done. I'm glad I was able to be .5% of the help to Tori that she was to me for my wedding.

My favorite part of Friday was being able to spend the afternoon with Jenna. Jenna and James made a huge sacrifice to come into town early so that she could do my hair...which hadn't been touched in 7 months. The salon was empty, and I can't tell you how amazing it was to spend a few hours catching up with them-laughing, joking, and picking up right where we left off. J&J are the cutest, and I love hearing about their crazy life.

Tori and Issac's rehearsal went well, with the exception of a million screaming Salter's children, but they were adorable, so it all turned out fine. The rehearsal dinner was at the new Procopio's. The food was delicious, as usual, and we were able to sit with Jenna and James and catch up even more.

Saturday
Saturday morning was great. We haven't been able to see the Hampsch kiddos in months. We were glad we had a few hours free, so we brought doughnuts and were able to spend a few hours getting some much needed love from them. We cuddled on the couch, watched ridiculous nature movies, played on the iPad, and laughed a lot. Jordan is so good with the boys, and it makes my heart happy to see them be able to play, wrestle, and "be boys."

Apparently it had been way too long since Josias had seen us, the first
thing he asked was, "You guys got kids???"

Wedding prep started at noon. Everything went super smooth all day long (after we found the right outlets so we could do hair haha) Tori was nervous about details all day long, but was able to calm down in the time right before the wedding. I can't imagine being the wedding planner and the bride. She did an AMAZING job. Every detail was so "Tori." Almost everything was tied to family and had sentimental value. At one point, it made me really sad that I had very few things like this at my wedding, but her aunt was quick to cheer me up, "That just means that your family isn't hoarders." That really made me laugh.

The ceremony and receptions went off without any issues. Tori's mom read an amazing poem about Tori's dad being killed, and Jim taking over as her father-OMG, the tears. Debbie, Issac's mom, preformed the ceremony, and it was so sweet to see how much a mother loves her son. It was inspiring. The receptions were fun, and it was funny to see so many people from high school. It seems like all of my friends are pregnant-yikes. Life is funny-I hadn't seen most of these people in 7 years, but small town life is a bond that joins you for life and we were all able to pick back up where we left off.  Yay for marriage, and Tori and Issac!

Sunday
We left early this morning to get home and prep for the week. Jordan officially starts clinicals tomorrow-he's super nervous, so it was best for us to have a day to recover before the craziness starts. Around 5, Drew stopped by to surprise us on his way home. It was so fun to have a random time to hang out and catch up on life. Drew also asked Jordan to be his best man-what?! So fun! It was so sweet to hear him tell Jordan how much he respected him as a friend and leader-it made me all warm and fuzzy. Love that husband of mine. ....and the Patriot's lost, that's always a good start to the week!

We are exhausted, but my heart is full in a way that only happens after we have been back to Vincennes, and I haven't felt that fullness in a long time. I'm thankful for the community that raised us, but equally as glad to have a home of our own.

#motivationmonday

This week is going to be crazy and busy. I'm so grateful that I had Monday off to get everything organized, work out a lot, and get myself mentally prepared for the week ahead.

Cycle
I love that cycle class is becoming a habit. It is so strange to think about how much I enjoy it. Sweating it out on the bike is becoming one of my favorites-hopefully the love will transfer to my actual bike when the weather warms up.

Motivation
Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. I love this quote, and it was definitely the theme of 2015 for me.

Wish List
I am in love with the treadmills at the CityWay Y. These babies are the most amazing things I have ever ran on-AKA they provide amazing distraction. The fact that I can choose between music videos, tv series, or running routes has me in love. Anyone want to buy me one???

Nap Queen

Call it the middle of January, call it getting into the swing of a new year...but this week was exhausting...like I went to bed at 7 on Thursday exhausting.
This shirt seemed appropriate this week...should have bought it...
Life With Intention
I can't seem to finish my goals this year. I have a feeling that means that I'm thinking about them too much...now I'm thinking about that too much...I'm on a crazy cycle. In the meantime, I'm practicing fulfilling one intention every week and continuing to work on my quiet/coloring time.

I continue to struggle with "crashing the chatter box." This is sooo important for me to remember.

"Deep Sixed" series continues.
Remembering this week that "discipline seems painful...but it later yields the peaceful fruit..."

Framily
Since Jordan had to work on Friday, I was able to hang out and have "girl time" with Erica, Abby, and baby Ellie. I love that our weeks are starting include consistent cuddles with this adorable babe.

On Saturday, Jordan came with me and Brit to morning cycle at the Y. It was a new instructor, and the class was amazing...we both had a crush on Maria.

Since we burned a crazy amount of calories in the morning, we felt much less guilty about trying out a new fried chicken restaurant, The Eagle. We met up with Corey and Brit, and Noel on Mass Ave. The Eagle recently opened and is insanely popular, with good reason...the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. Anytime with these folks is always great.
I mean...it had CANDIED BACON in it...

I don't think you could have fit one more carb on the table...
After dinner, we headed to Pat and Abby's again to watch the Packer's(Pat's favorite) playoff game. It was fun to see the whole family and get even more cuddles with Ellie.
Those eyes though...

Music
I'm so thankful for Pandora, Spotify and all the crazy musical things available these days. It's amazing the memories that music can bring back and the ease that lyrics come flooding back even when you haven't heard the song in years.
I listened to this song on repeat for a good 12 times
this weekend-15 y/o Heidi was in heaven.
The country jams were in full swing this weekend.
Progress
I haven't moved way forward, but I haven't moved backward either. Progress is progress.
Yeah...I don't smile in these things...

Grind

Some weeks are easy, and don't require a lot of effort...this was not one of those weeks. Every single part of the week required a lot of effort-not even in a bad way-it just took a lot of energy and drive.

Work
January is rough on our oncology clinic. Every single patient's treatment has to be re-certified by the insurance companies as soon as January 1st rolls around. This causes a lot of extra waiting for the patients, and a lot of pressure on our pharmacy staff to get things done in a timely manner. BUT-I'm so grateful that I work with a crew that works really hard to make this as easy as possible. Chrissy, Jaclyn, and Dani-you guys are the best.

Swim, Bike, Run
Thankfully, I feel like my body has finally recovered from being sick over the holidays. A healthy body is so precious-I needed to be reminded of that. Unfortunately/fortunately the "new year's resolution" people have invaded every square inch of every YMCA in Indianapolis. I hope all of these folks stick with a healthy lifestyle...but I also can't wait until February when things go back to normal.

No. Parking. Anywhere.
Baby Ellie
This part of the week required no effort-cuddling beautiful Ellie. I was able to take P & A dinner on Wednesday and spend some time with them. It's so amazing to see them become a little family. They are great parents and are handling parenthood so well.
Precious Baby Ellie
Framily
First, friends. We started small group again and are figuring out what to do in the new year. Until then, we helped Noel move into a new place. So thankful for this group.

And, family. Over the weekend, Danny and Emily came up to meet baby E and spend time with the fam. It was fun to spend time with them-hang around the mall and hang out at Pat and Abby's. After meeting baby, Terry and Carole treated us to dinner at Noah Grant's in downtown Zionsville. Jordan and I would never go to dinner there on our own, so it was fun to get treated by them. Plus, after the time it took to nail down the plans... the dinner tasted 100x's sweeter. Love that family. I always laugh the entire way through dinner.
So fancy...
Coloring Books
I'm working on establishing a morning habit of quiet time, meditation and reading...and struggling. Vanessa suggested that I color...not in my wheelhouse...at all. But I thought I could give it a try...so we'll see.. I bought a book and I'm going to try it. And I basically bought a coloring book for a 12 year-old...seemed pretty appropriate.
It's literally called "Coloring Crush"...I'm 12.
Church
TPCC started a new series called "Deep Sixed." It's crazy intense and all about secrets. I don't want to forget how intense and inspiring it's been.

Happy 2016!

How is it 2016? I personally have no idea how 2015 passed so quickly. It was a great week leading up to the holiday, but I'm so glad to be back into a routine this week.

Cycle
On Monday, Jordan came with me to cycle at the new CityWay YMCA. It was so fun to workout with him-even if he hated it! It makes me feel so loved when we're able to spend time together-even if we're covered head to toe in sweat.

This week, Katie and Mike came all the way down to CityWay and did the class with us. It was fun to laugh and sweat with them. Thankful for friends who want to be fit. Side note: Katie is a BOSS. She worked all day, picked up her boys, drove 30 minutes to the Y, and kicked butt in class. #goals

Blue Visited
On Tuesday, the Colt's mascot, Blue, came to visit one of our patients. It was fun and brought a lot of smiles to our patients.

New Year's Eve
Jordan and I barely make it to 10 pm most nights, so Thursday night was a stretch for us. We spent the night at Andrew's apartment hanging out with friends from our small group. We are so grateful to have this amazing group. We at good food, drank yummy drinks, and played a lot of Cards Against Humanity. Jordan and I headed back home almost immediately after 12. We're 85, and totally ok with that.
The only photo I managed to get the entire night...whoops. Good one, Heidi.

Dani's New Place
I am so lucky to love the people I work with. Like really love them. On Friday night, Dani invited us over for tacos, games, and to love on her new house. It was so fun to spend time with Katie and Shelby without pumps beeping every 5 seconds. It was hilarious to watch Ezra and Jack crawl around in a house that isn't "baby proofed"-and it solidified the fact that I'm totally not ready to be a mom, Aunt Heidi is good enough for me at the moment. Thankful that Dani let us romp all over her beautiful place and gave all of us a way to bond outside of work.
The cutest-these boys crack me up.
Starting Out The New Year
I loooove goal setting. I'm concentrating on taking my time this year to make intentional and value-based goals. In the meantime, I was glad to have some free days to deep clean and purge our closets.
That was only half of it...

I can't wait to start the year and see what 2016 will hold for us!
