Transition Lenses

I hate transition lenses. I'm not downing anyone who has them or finds them helpful-I just find them so so awkward and uncomfortable to look at. Right now, I feel like a transition lens. We're in this awkward spot between school, jobs, saving for a house, people asking about kids. Oof. There was a sort of adrenaline that accompnied grad school, and now that it's over, there's this weird wandering around and waiting for the next stage. How 2.5 years went so fast, I'll never know. In the midst of this weirdness, we're getting ready for Colorado, Jordan is working his last weekend as a nurse, and we've been getting more involved with our Care Community family.

Dinner With Holly: I love my visits with Holly twice a month. Last Wednesday, we tried out Garden Table on Mass Ave. The food was insanely good, and the atmosphere was almost too hipster to handle. I felt like I was in an episode of Portlandia, but in a good way.

I rode my bike outside for the first time this week...and enjoyed it, and didn't have a panic attack...that's a big deal.

Happy birthday, Will! On Saturday, Brittany and I (along with her visiting sister-in-law!) took two of our care community kiddos to Will's 5th birthday party at Conner Prairie. It was wild, rainy, fun, and even included watching a giant sheep get sheered! It was exhausting and so fun! Thankful for this family!

Bushnell Easter

We got to celebrate Easter twice this year! Last weekend, almost everyone was out of town/unavailable for a Bushnell Easter celebration. So this weekend we spent quality time with the whole fam. On Friday, we met Danny and Emily for dinner at Tried and True Brewhouse. Since we don't see them very often, it was fun to have some one on one time with them and enjoy some food and drinks. I had ONE drink, and I don't think I've slept so hard in months-so ridiculous.

On Saturday, everyone(minus Abby, booooo) came up to the Zionsville house all day. We started with an amazing lunch. Dang can Danny and Carole cook! So freaking delicious! We had prime rib, mac and cheese, potatoes, salad, and homemade strawberry shortcake. We ate around one, and I didn't even want a bite of food until 8pm. In true Bushnell fashion, we had Girodano's for dinner. Basically we ate a total of 8 million calories all day, and had a blast doing it. Besides eating, we had fun outside and passed both babies around most of the day. We played a ridiculous game of Cards Against Humanity. Your life just really isn't complete until you hear you MIL and FIL laugh at really inappropriate cards. Towards the end of the day, Terry realized I had never seen "Mars Attacks," and made it his mission to find the tape and show it to me. We ended up making it through about half of the movie before we had to go. And yes Terry, it is hilarious.

Jordan and I were exhausted by the end of the day. We fell asleep in about 5 minutes when we got home. We are so insanely grateful for this side of our family. The fact that we all live close enough to get together and share life is something so special. And we are grateful to find out that we are going to aunts and uncles again in November, congrats Pat and Abby!

Easter Weekend

     This was the second year in a row that we hosted Easter. I'm so glad that my parents agreed to come up. Jordan had his last big presentation the Monday following, so it was nice that they made the trip. Growing up, Easter was one of my favorite holidays. Both sets of grandparents always put a lot of effort into egg hunts and the dinners, and along with the warm weather-leaves a lot of fond memories. I didn't get to take a ton of pictures, but the day was a blast. Fitting us all into the apartment was a little tight, but the weather was beautiful so we spent the majority of the day outside hunting eggs, playing Kanjam, and corn hole. Later on, the Gettlefinger's stopped by and we played yard games until almost 10. So thankful that we have a healthy, fun, intact family-I know how rare that is, and I try to remember that more often these days. 

Once again, I was the lowest earner in the egg hunt. I earned myself $11.00, a cherry tomato, a hard caramel, and a random poker chip.

 Small Group: We've recently added a few folks to our small group since a few people have moved on recently. It's been awesome to get to know new people, learn their stories, and get new perspectives in the group. On Monday, we had a cookout to get to know everyone better and the sunset was stunning from the Kime's bathroom. So thankful for our group and the beautiful spring weather!

(First of all, I don't agree with this title one bit, but I had to share...this was the funniest quote that Josias said during the weekend while they stayed with us. This was his response after asking Jordan several questions that Jordan didn't know the answer too, but I did.)

After The Rain: This photo was from a few weeks ago on a Monday night. I started out the day so sure that I was going to have a great week. I was going to have a good attitude, eat well, be positive...NOTHING COULD STOP ME! Except for everything that immediately did. My first patient was extremely complicated and had a ton of issues all day-ending with a trip to the ER. I ended up not getting out of work until 6, and at that point I had literally no energy to workout or do anything. Jordan and I ended up meeting at Chipotle and having dinner before group. We had some time to spare, so we went to the park close to the Kime's. It had rained most of the day, but around 7 this beautiful sky and scene revealed itself. By the time I got to the park, I knew that I needed to do some running to make me feel normal before group-so I ran around the park...in my scrubs...like a crazy person. Jordan was super embarrassed and couldn't even believe I was doing it, but it definitely happened. By the end of my run, it was so beautiful. The dark clouds were parting and the sun was shining through brighter than it had all day. It was such a good reminder that the good is always there, sometimes it's just covered up, and that even long and tough days will eventually end.

Weekend With The Hampsch Kiddos: A few weeks ago, Holly and the kids stayed with us for a weekend while Malachi had a math tournament. We had so much fun, but definitely understood what people say when they say that children are "amazing but exhausting." There was a lot of singing, climbing, eating bagels and being silly. To got through all of the details would be laborious, but our day at Eagle Creek was a blast, but the pictures describe our day well.

So thankful for our friendship with these kids. It's been crazy to see them grow up. They have gotten so big, and to see them mature and their personalities develop is such a cool experience.
