Easter 2016

Jordan and I have spent a total of 1 Easter together...this was not one of them. I hate it, but I keep telling myself that this season will eventually end, and eventually we will be able to spend holidays together-there could certainly be worse things. Anyway...rant over.

We were able to spend Good Friday together and go to the TPCC service with most of our small group. After the service, we went out to eat and watch basketball with Corey and Brittany. It was fun to catch up on life and talk about Honduras plans. So thankful for their friendship.

This years Easter was a little different. Since Haley is living in Indy, we convinced our parents to drive up here...but only if we cooked dinner. This was the first time I had cooked a dinner for 8 people (Kelly and Alyce joined us, since Lisa was out of town.) It was a production to get the apartment ready, extend the table, cook a ham, and get it all together by noon on Saturday. I ended up wearing my workout clothes and no make-up the whole day...I felt like my mother...I was always embarrassed when I was little that she wasn't "ready" when the guests came. I get it mom, I totally get it. Haley helped cook a lot of the sides, which was a huge help. Dinner ended up being delicious, and it was stress free-which was my favorite part. After we ate, my mom hid eggs with change inside that represented dollar amounts. She proudly announced that it was "in honor of all of the dead grandparents who loved to give the egg hunts." That announcement was followed by some awkward laughter. Some of the eggs still had our grandmother's handwriting on them, specifying which grandchild they went to, it was sentimental and really sweet. The egg hunt was hilarious to say the least. (I had a poor showing in the egg hunt and only found $14, womp womp.) We ended up hiding the eggs for the adults afterwards, and that also resulted in a lot of laughter. My parents spent a little more time at the house, I was exhausted, and my dad could tell...who promptly told me, "You're hangry...or need some sleep." Thanks, dad.

On Sunday, I got up early to do my brick workout. It was gorgeous Sunday morning and felt amazing outside running. Haley decided to go to the noon service with me at TPCC. After church, Haley came with me to Pat and Abby's house to have lunch with a small part of the Bushnell side. It was fun to cuddle Baby Ellie and have lunch. I'm lucky to have in-laws that are not only willing to include me when Jordan's not there, but also my sister. I felt super blessed.

Easter was great. The weather was beautiful, and more than ever, I felt extremely blessed to have a husband who loves me and blesses me daily, a healthy family, friends that we love, a church where we can serve, and a home that is way nicer than what we need.
